Our family of four just returned from Cancun after spending a week at the Salvia. We had a great time however the Salvia may not be for everyone. Our family consisted of two adults and two children aged 6 and 7. Here is our assessment:
The Good - Excellent location right in the heart of downtown
- Oceanfront unit with the sounds of waves crashing on the rocks right below our unit
-On the bus route and also parking for your vehicle if you rent one
-Plenty of restaurants, internet cafes etc within easy walking distance
- The staff was extremely helpful as were the snowbirds and permanent residents in the Salvia
- Beach is either side of the Salvia and the kids loved playing on the rocks in front of the Salvia - also lots of waves for the kids to boogie board on - calmer beaches are on the north side of the Hotel Zone
- Amazing sunrises from the Salvia
- The in-house restaurant is cheap and good!!
- The balconies are a good size and have decent patio furniture
The Bad - The tennis court is not operational and is being demolished to make way for a piano bar - neither the owner of the unit who rented to us nor the Salvia website stated this as we brought our tennis racquets with us
- If you don't have an oceanfront unit the clubs play their music until 6 or 7 in the morning and could disturb you
- The beach is limited unless you walk in front of another hotel
If you are looking for a five star building this is not the place for you. If you want a clean, simple condo with basic amenities for a good price in a great location then the Salvia fits the bill. The maid service was good, the unit was clean, the lobby was updated and the pool was adequate.
We would definitely return and would recommend this resort.
