My husband and I stayed at the Riu in February and I returned with my friend her teen daughter and my teen daugther in April and was looking for a cheaper resort so we returned to Oasis Viva. We stayed here last year and the girls only wanted to stay here especially for the Sushi and the beach. For the money I have ABSOLUTELY no complaints. It was cheap and by far the best beach that I have seen anywhere including the Riu. Access to the water is inviting and easy with no awkward gates. You walk directly in from the flat sand. Dos Lunas for lunch takes a long time but delicious and a good way to take a break from the sun as we would go out there by 8:00 a.m. We partyied at "The City" and "Coco Bongo" and on the other 4 nights we just had some cocktails around the hotel. Certain evenings there is entertainment. The food is not unbelievable but we always managed to eat something and took comfort in the fact that with the cheaper rate we paid we could go out and eat also. The staff couldn't be nicer and I have never seen people cleaning constantly at any resort. If you stay at the grand oasis viva which is the newer section and you get a black band you can go to this really nice bar on premises and relax. We did not have the black band and as far as I was concerned the "class issue" did make me a bit uncomfortable as we stayed at the lower end price. Not sure that $60 per night additional was worth paying for the black band since we could have extra money to go to the strip which was well within walking distance. Best bang for the buck.
