My husband and I stayed at this resort April 20-24. Overall for what we paid for our package, we were quite statisfied. And, honestly, anything's better than being at home working :)

Likes:
*Check-In/Out was easy. Make sure to ask for your towel cards when you check in.
*Good location - easy to walk to the downtown portion of cancun, or catch the bus
*Nice beach. Yes, there were some cigerette butts and some empty cups on the ground, oh well. However, there were always enough chairs and the water is very shallow and calm - great for kids
*Two pools which very always clean and nice chairs with umbrellas. One pool had a kids' section
*Rooms were decent sized and cleaned daily. Bathroom was quite large with a double vanity
*Staff was pleasant
*Entertainment at night was very nice - saw two different musical/dance shows

Dislikes:
*No balconies on the floors with king-sized beds. All other rooms have two double beds and have balconies (I believe)
*No hot water two of the days we were there - the other days it was never got very hot (good thing we were too sunburned to care!)
*Food on buffett was average at best. Breakfast was probably the best.
*Mexican restaurant (the one where you needed reservations) - not good at all, slow service.
*Hamburger/Snack place - Again, mediocre.
*Bar - Drinks were pretty watered down. Beer was good, though
*In-room safes were an extra charge
*After about 10:30 there is really nowhere to eat on the resort.

Overall, my husband and I had a great time in Cancun. We're not really "resort" people, so we basically just wanted a place with a decent beach that was close to the action. And, again, for what we paid, it wasn't a big deal to eat a few meals outside of the resort.

First, hotel rooms were old. Several mornings we did not have hot water so we showered in cold water. We were there from Wednesday to Sunday and the cleaning crew only came twice. Once we had to request it and had to seek out clean towels. There was no amenity of a refrigerated area such as small frig that you could put water in. You had to buy bottled water at their gift shop which was $3.00USD per bottle because they did not furnish bottled water to their guests! You had to pay for a key to the safe in your room, otherwise you are screwed unless you hide your valuables. I purchased a silver pendant with matching earrings and inadvertantly dropped one of the earrings on the floor and I got busy and forgot to pick it up. Of course then the cleaning crew came (one of the two times they decided to show up) while we are at the pool and swept our room and when I got back the earring was gone. So that was that regarding $25 worth of earring. I would think that if you saw an earring on the floor and you were sweeping the room you would pick up the earring and lay it on the desk. Not so. Guess my fault for not picking it up when I dropped it and not their fault for sweeping it up and as my guess putting it in their pocket. Of course you can't complain about their help because it would do no good in that hotel. Another incident was that my daughter and I moved some lounging chairs over toward the pool area to watch the show one evening. No one was around at that time. We got up to run up to the room to get a jacket and she realized she left her cell phone there. We rushed back to the chairs (maybe 3 minutes at the most we were gone) and the chairs had been moved by a hotel staff member over to the beach area out of the way. We approached the guy and told him the cell phone was there and he acted as if he didn't understand us so we got security. He questioned him and of course he denied seeing it. Since no one was around I highly doubt that anyone else could have seen it and walked up and grabbed it within 3 minutes of our leaving. And, since the hotel staff member was the one that grabbed the chairs and moved them of course we think he just may have known something about it but they were not going to search his pockets. So, $300 phone gone. Our only peace is knowing that it was T-Mobile phone and that phone cannot be used in Mexico because they do not have T-Mobile. We immediately called the number to see if it would ring and low and behold, it had been turned off immediately so whoever took it made sure we would not be able to hear it ring. Am I highly suspicious of some of their staff? Yes!!! I could never recommend this hotel to anyone. Next time I will go back to the Grand Royal Solaris, it is first class all the way. Oasis Viva, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Well this is the first time I write a review on some hotel. I do not want to say that I had only bad experience but it was the highlight of my trip.
As a matter of fact first day we arrived around 12:30. Since we knew from previous reviews that pool area is noisy we requested a room far from the pool and with a balcony. At the reception told us that if we wanted a room with balcony we have to wait until 3.00 pm for check-in. It was fine with us although we arrived from cold NYC and had only warm clothes. Waiting for our check-in we went to browse around a little bit. At first we were not satisfied. We could not have normal lunch outside of buffet restaurant because there were a lot of birds. If you leave something on the table unatended birds immediately come to your table. Pool area was noisy and latter on while checking the gorunds someone throw glass of beer through the window almos hitting my girlfriend. Finally at the reception they told us that they did not have room with balcony and that we could get one tommorow (why were we waiting than?). Not satisfied we wanted to change the hotel and girl who was working for the Hotel told us that we could go to some other Oasis hotel or to Park Royal Hotel. If we want to move to Park Royal we should go there to check whether we like it. With a hope we paid for the wi-fi internet and went to our room. Of course there was no connection in the room. At the reception told us that if we want internet we have to be in the lobby because connection on upper floors is bad (Thanks for telling me that immediately). We did our work checked all hotels and did not find any Oasis good for our needs. We wantted to move to Park Royal and told that to girl who recomended us that hotel. Insteda to help us she insisted that we should go to see Park Royal before making a decision. I told her ok we would go but first tell us what was the rate. She did not know. Apparently her boss knew the rate and she would call him. When we came back she still hed not have the rate. "You can switch the hotel just go and check before you do it" she was telling to us (as a matter of fact she was trying to sell us time share). We lost our afternoon trying to get information from the hotel staff. Guy at the reception told us "between us she is trying to sell you time share and if you want to move to another hotel you have to pay full price". Oh really, like we did not know that.
What we could we stayed at the hotel. Tommorow moved to the room with a balcony. We spent our time far awey from the pool area (and there we could barrely hear any noise what was ok). Beach was ok. Enterance to the water is rocky but you can find your way to the sandy part. Watter is shallow and good for swimming (although maybe too shallow). At the restaurant we remained inside to avoid the birds. Food was ok. In my opinion even better than food in RIU Los Cabos. Sushi was excellent but you have to wait even more than half and hour to get your order. Hotel is worn out but cleaning ladies keep the rooms clean. Beach area was not mainatined good. Every morning there was a lot of glasses at the beach. All in all we were ready to give good raiting to the hotel having in mind what you are getting for the money.
Than on check-out day we had transportation at 10.00 pm. We were in the lobby at 9.45. Bellboy who was ther did not speak english but I could understand him that he did not have the key of the storage room and that we have to wait for his colleague to bring us our luggage. At 9.55 he was not there. I went to the reception and girl overthere told me to wait for five minutes and she would find solution. At 10.00 pm our transportation arrived but our luggage was not ready. We asked for a mannager and the girl at the reception was reluctant to call him (why?). At 10.10 some guy arrived and girl told us that he was the manager. He tried to open the storage room but did not have the right key. It turned out that he was not the manager (so girl at the reception lied to us). We wanted to call police but they told us that they could not call police from the hotel (imagine that!). Another guy at the reception told us that bellboy was at the service (how he can know whre is he? If he knows that why did not he called him to come down to open the door). In a meantime I spoke with the security of the hotel. At 10.15 manager showed up. He was listening but he could not help us beacause nobady had the key. Finally security guy brought key and after 30 minutes we got our luggage. They told us that they would pay us a taxi but if we waited for another half an hour we would be late for the plane. I do not understand why they had to lie to us. It happened first day it happened last day and it shows that if something happens you can not relly on the hotel staff and management.
In the end. I never go twice to the same place and if you ask me (after two Mexico trips Los Cabos and Cancun) I would reccomend you Dominican Republic. There they have better beaches and more attentive staff. Food was also better and for the money it is much better deal.

We were at this hotel when Conquest on Wednesday went bankrupt. There were about 40 rooms involved and we met as a group with the manager. Never once did we feel treatened as reported in the papers. As a result, we had to pay $l00 per room per night, which we are now trying to get back from TICO and the hotel offered us a free week stay if we book before Nov. We will definately go back not because of the offer but because of the way we were treated. We didn't evey pay our bill until Sat. and we left on time Sunday. The food was exceptionally good for a 4* resort and the shows very entertaining. Our Conquest rep was even there every day until the last customer had left even though she was not getting paid. The Hotel is small, smaller than what we usually go to, but we will be back.
