After reading the mixed reviews by recent travelers to this hotel, I had my doubts. Once we arrived though, we were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted with a refreshing drink of FAX & Vodka (mmmm!) and had our names displayed on a monitor behind the front desk. I had been forewarned about the construction on the beach from this site, so I wasn't surprised or upset when we saw them, which was only at night. On the bus ride from the airport, our guide also warned us that there was still a lot of construction around Cancun from the hurricane. The food at the resort was above average; some days at some restaurants great and another day not so great. I had read on this site that Maria's was a must eat at the resort, but was greatly disappointed. The food was below average and portions tiny. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful except for 2 staffers that were not so friendly. Their staff made sure to go to extra lengths to help. The only real complaint I would have is about room service. We had to call 3-4 times before we could fresh towels. We also had to call a dozen times to have more bottled water delivered and when that failed, we went to the front desk after we told them we would be there to pick it up, but still had to wait for it. All in all, I would stay there again, but I would like to try some of the other resorts first. It was a very family friendly resort, but also a fun place for those that wanted to drink to their hearts content and party like rock stars!
