After reading the mixed reviews by recent travelers to this hotel, I had my doubts. Once we arrived though, we were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted with a refreshing drink of FAX & Vodka (mmmm!) and had our names displayed on a monitor behind the front desk. I had been forewarned about the construction on the beach from this site, so I wasn't surprised or upset when we saw them, which was only at night. On the bus ride from the airport, our guide also warned us that there was still a lot of construction around Cancun from the hurricane. The food at the resort was above average; some days at some restaurants great and another day not so great. I had read on this site that Maria's was a must eat at the resort, but was greatly disappointed. The food was below average and portions tiny. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful except for 2 staffers that were not so friendly. Their staff made sure to go to extra lengths to help. The only real complaint I would have is about room service. We had to call 3-4 times before we could fresh towels. We also had to call a dozen times to have more bottled water delivered and when that failed, we went to the front desk after we told them we would be there to pick it up, but still had to wait for it. All in all, I would stay there again, but I would like to try some of the other resorts first. It was a very family friendly resort, but also a fun place for those that wanted to drink to their hearts content and party like rock stars!

Hola!! DO NOT BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE POSTS!! The hotel is clean, nice, and has all the amenities you need!! I just got back (June 8th) from 4 days at the Gran Caribe for my daughters wedding. 38 people total came down, and it was seamless from beginning to end. The food is great, the staff is always smiling and wonderful, and the beach is back!!!! IF you are getting married there, RELAX!! The wedding planner does a WONDERFUL job, all is organized and it was my daughter's dream wedding. There were a few hiccups, (clogged toilet, A/C in roon 2401 needed a little tweaking) bul all was dealt with with a smile and VERY prompt. I HIGHLY recommend this place and I welcome anyone to contat me with questions.

This was my husband and I's first vacation together, our honeymoon!! It was amazing!! The hotel was SUPER CLEAN and the service was better than anything we could get in the USA. It was relaxing and had just the right amount of "fun" atmosphere, it wasnt too quiet and wasnt too loud, it was perfect for us (a young couple)..I would recommend this resort to young couples, families, and teens!! The Royal is next door and it is for older couples that want quiet!Gran Caribe is beautiful and we will definitely go back!!

“Be Careful”

Gran Caribe Real Resort

Just back froma trip to the Grand Caribe Real. I had reservatons at the Flamingo plaza,But reading comments left by others I decided to pay and additonal amount of $340 with Funjet to upgrade to this hotel for three nights total. The pictures and advice from other travelers was inviting. Our arrival at the Hotel was greeted by Lomas travel the tour operator Funjet uses on location. Their main mission of Lomas is to sell excursions. We advised Lomas we travel to cancun evry 60 days and this trip was about number 23. We were told we still needed to be in their meeting the following morning. We politely declined. Upon trying to check in we were told our room in the brochure was not available but for $100 more per night we could have an ocean view. We politely declined. We were sent to our room. What a disaster of a room. Side windows overlooking the roof were filthy. The room had not been renovated like the online brochure said. After complaining to the Mgr. We were given a Logoon view room on a higher floor for a total upgrade price of $93. The food was average. The drinks very watered down. The staff makes you feel uncomfortable if you do not tip them even though it is all inclusive. The day we were to leave we waited downstairs at the apponted time to leave on Lomas travels bus but were denied boarding because our name was not on the list. We did have our valed transfer papers in hand but were still denied . We spent an additional $30 for a taxi ride to the airport. I will let you other fellow travelers decide if this is the place for you.

“Less Than Expected”

Gran Caribe Real Resort

We arrived at the hotel on Thursday evening, May 22nd and stayed until May 25th. We checked into our room on the third floor. It seemed nice enough. However, the bed was extremely firm. So much so, that the next morning I ended up with a crick in my neck & shoulder so I asked if we could switch rooms, or upgrade. The front desk personnel weren't very understanding and said there were no other rooms available and all the rooms had the same (hard) beds. The weather was nice, though the wind was wild. We did have a few brief showers, but that didn't seem to stop the fun. The food was so, so. There were 2 buffet-type restaurants & they were average. Not much of a selection...mostly hamburgers, cold-cuts, salads. However, the poolside grill was the best. During the day you could order club sandwiches, nachos, burgers, etc. & at night, they served wonderful sushi (my favorite, by far). The noise level in the room was high. I guess because the hotel is mostly marble, everything echoed and the guests that got in late every night after partying at the local bars were quite loud & disruptive. The waitstaff was always friendly & eager to please, but good tips may have helped out! Overall, it was an okay getaway, but probably won't go back to Cancun...at least not to the Gran Caribe Real.
