“Not worth the All-Inclusive!”

OK, so, I'll start off by saying that I read more than 100 reviews on this website prior to getting there. Everything said about the Front Desk is true 24 hours a day, the service sucks. I, too, had to call 2 or 3 times to get towels sent to my room, or an iron/ironing board. We were told room service was only allowed once a day, while others said it was once every meal, but I guess it just depends on who you talk to? There were RARELY towels the first time we checked by the pool, and make sure NOT TO LOSE YOUR TOWEL CARDS! $30 fine if you don't have the towel or card. Albatros is the best restaraunt in the all-inclusive package but BEWARE... the "Crispy Tacos" are FISH, and they don't say so! I spent half my day sick as a dog because i'm allergic! The lobby bar's drinks are really good tasting, but it will take you a good 10-15 to get tipsy (DO try the Leaping Lizard. YUM!). If you tip, and ask the bartender to add another shot, the answer is usually yes. The 24-All Inclusive Food Bar is DISGUSTING. Our room was around the corner from it, and every time we walked by we wanted to vomit. The hot dogs are always cold... BUT, there is always bottles of alcohol! [: A lot of people barely speak English, while others are quite fluent. Overall the hotel stay was OK, I don't think the all-inclusive is worth the money. I'd rather save it next time and eat out. (This would probably differ for you if you're not allergic to seafood.) ALSO: I STRONLY ENCOURAGE YOU NOT TO GO THROUGH AQUAWORLD IF YOU PLAN ON DOING ANY ACTIVITIES. WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GO PARASAILING, BOOKED 3 DAYS IN ADVANCED, AND GOT THERE, AND MET PEOPLE WHO WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE FLOWN AT 11 AND IT WAS ALREADY 2. (We waited for 1 hour, our appointment was at 1.) We got our money back, but never got to go parasailing. Definitely use Best Day Travel, it is located in the lobby at the Gran Caribe Real by the Bell Boy podium. About the beach: YES THERE IS A BEACH. It's not even a half a mile long, but it is VERY beautiful. See picture attatched. Overall, the service wasn't that great. Food wasn't. Our room was quite small due to the HUGE TV stand/dresser that is really obviously way too big for the room. Oh, and BEWARE of the room service guy who will knock quickly and just open your door at around 11 A.M/Noon because he assumes you are gone. Take the BUS, NOT TAXIS! It's about $0.65 USD (we always just handed the bus driver a $1 and got some change back) but MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A SEAT. Especially at night. I was standing on a stair and the bus driver abruptly stopped and I gashed my knee (which needed stitches but I was far too scared to have them done in Mexico) and the only person who would help me was the guy who did my tattoo two days before. Hope I helped! HAVE FUN!

We stayed at this hotel in Sept 07 for 2weeks and absolutely loved it. Check in was quick and efficient. Room was very roomy and clean, our view overlooked the lagoon which was great as the sun didnt shine in our room until the afternoon which made the room very cool to wake up in the morning.

The food was good not exceptional but very varied choice (really recommend the al a carte menus in marias)

Would recommend this hotel, in fact we have family members who have booked to go here already thats how much we loved it

We went on June 1-5 2008 for our honeymoon and overall had a great time. We had pretty weather, lucked out on no rain.

The hotel was very clean, someone is ALWAYS cleaning. It takes them a while to clean your room and although it's hard because they are in there so long they do a great job! Just go eat or plan something around the time they clean.

Food was good, maybe a little more variety would be nice but everything I did eat was great. Plan on eating at Maria's and get reservations the FIRST night you are there.....you can only get get reservations from 11-1pm each day. But the food was good and it was quiet.

Drinks were good....I love frozen drinks and there is never a short supply of those :) I like the miami Vice there.

I would recommend going to the Myan Ruins, we went and it's a VERY long day but we had a blast. We did the coba one.

The beach was way better then what people say.....it helps to know about it going into the trip though. If you know they are working some out there it's not a big deal....we were still able to swim and lay out right by the water. They were getting close to being done anyway...the last day we were there they did not even have to work on the rock wall they were bulding to help calm the waves coming up to the shore.

Antonio at the "Trade Winds" bar (I think that's the name) the one right by the water was really nice and enjoyable to be around. It's a very peacful place to go sit at night if there aren't to many people down there. We would go late and have a great time.

Anyway......I hope this was helkful. The ONLY negative we would have given the hotel is that the walls and floor are tile and concrete which causes it to be very loud in the hallways. But we went around senior trip time and they are not very quiet :) Other then that we loved it!!!

I took 3 of my high school girlfriends to Cancun for a week. We upgraded to an oceanfront suite with a walk-out to the beach. The room was nice. We tipped the maid about $5 daily and we always had fresh towels and our room was very clean.

THe hotel only has three restaurants and one you have to make reservations for. The food was ok but nothing fantastic. The staff at the hotel are great and very helpful.

We booked a spa day at the sister resort The Royal Cancun. The spa was fabulous and we spent the entire day there. We even ate at the restaurant there and the food was phenominal. I wish we had stayed at the Royal instead because the food was so much better and it had more restaurants.

The entertainment staff were great. We spent a few nights at the local clubs. Definitely go to The CIty if you like Techno. They also have some pretty cool shows. Go with the entertainment staff from the hotel so you get transportation, no waiting in line and a private section of the club to party in without having to worry about drunk men with wandering hands.

We went to Xel Ha. It was beautiful and too much to do in only a few hours. We didn't have much time there because we also had the Tulum tour that day. I would recommend going to just Xel Ha for a day.

“great time!”

We stayed at this resort for seven days in June of 2008 and had a great time. It had a very high class feel but was not lacking at all on the party side. the lobby bar was hoppin every night and the entertainment staff really encouraged people to party day and night. The food was good but the buffet got boring so i suggest mixing it up with room service and the outside dinner time restaurant which felt very gourmet. For some reason they dont have peanut butter down there so bring your own. Our room was super nice with great ac. The beach is back! and comes with piles of sea shells, drink waitresses and beach chairs. This resort is in a prime location. We did not take a cab once! ten minute walk from club zone, five from shopping and fifteen from upscale shopping district. The staff was very friendly and hard working. The front desk people were much less friendly than everyone else, this maybe becuase they never get tipped. Overall it was seven days of great sun, good food, fun people and the best accomadation
