After reading some of the negative reviews, looking at the hotel pictures on the website, and then reviewing the brochure that our travel agent provided , my family and I thought that we had made a major mistake in choosing this hotel. To our pleasant surprise, the hotel and staff exceeded our expectations. The hotel is so beautiful and the staff is remarkable. The hotel is much prettier than what the pictures show. We arrived at 10pm and we were met by a personable bellmen Ulysis who was very knowledgable about the hotel and Cancun. We upgraded our rooms from a Jr Suite oceanfront to a Grand Jr Suite Oceanview. The rooms are big, comfortable, quite and clean. The rooms are well stocked. Our housekeeper decorated our bed with rose petals and made a swan out of towels(see pictures). The beach is breathtakinly beautiful and clean. The servers on the beach and pool area were very attentive when it comes to providing drinks. Once you get finish with one drink, they are there to provide you with another. The same service applies in the buffet or a' la carte restaurants too. The service is amazing! The service that we received was the same service provided during a stay at a boutique hotel or eating at a fine dining restaurant. There is a wide range of food to choose from: vegetarian, italian to sushi, the Philadelphia rolls are delicious. Our 11 year old had fun at the children's pool area, which has a nice water slide. He also enjoyed ordering chocolate cake from room service, which he did almost every night. Our 29 year old had a good time just socializing in the lobby. He met lots of new friends and he is going back, without us of course. Our family agrees that this was one of the best vacations we have had. We look forward to going back to Gran Caribe for their "Gran" hospitality, friendliness, good food and their beautiful accomodations.
