We booked this holiday after Jetblue started direct flights from Tampa to Cancun, we have a 2 year old so direct flights are a must. From the minute you walk through the door of the hotel you know that it is something rather special, the hotel was beautiful, very zen and very relaxing, calming music and essential oils to make you feel like you are in a relaxing spa. We had booked a 3 night stay in an Aqua Suite, on check in we asked if the cabanas were included in the room but were told unfortunately not, but the receptionist managed to book one for us for that afternoon and complimentary as it was my birthday weekend.
The check in procedure was in my opinion a little long, we were sat in reception (albeit a beautiful one!) for over an hour, whilst we were brought peppermint tea and given all the information about the hotel - this was all very nice but we were only there for 3 days and just wanted to get to the pool as quickly as possible and all the information being given I could have read about in an info pack in the room. We were asked if we would like an upgrade to a bigger suite and we did view it but decided that the Aqua was actually nicer than the more expensive one that they showed us. The Aqua suite was beautiful, very large with separate living room and open plan bedroom and spa/jacuzzi tub, very modern, huge patio which got sun on it till about 3-4pm fantastic!
The pool, sorry pools there are 8 of them were amazing, there is a large sun shelf running the whole length of the largest pool and this was perfect for our 2 year old to splash around in he actually spent 3 whole days in the pool, it was not busy at all. The pool drinks service was amazing all of the waiters were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us - they even bought be a cake and balloons out when they found out it was by birthday and all sung happy birthday to me.
The breakfast buffet at the Siete is out of this world, and the spa breakfast on the a la carte menu was to die for. All of the food in all 3 restaurants was world class, - we actually never left the hotel for food as we didn't need to the selection was so good, - they even microwaved a Gerber toddler meal for my little boy as the menu is not that child friendly at MB but as I had read that on another review I took along a coupe for him, they brought it up on a china plate with small childrens cutlery, very sweet, we will definitely return just so that we can try everything that we missed on the menu's.
The only down side to this hotel is that if you like a beach holiday (luckily I 'd rather have a pool any day)! you will miss out here the beach is just to narrow and the waves were so bad whilst we were there you couldn't even dip your toe in.
Overall though for us as a family with a small child the hotel was perfect, we were able to have a family holiday but also have a grown up holiday at the same time.
