The oasis Palm Beach resort was great and the employees and Mexican people are very nice and tentative. The water at this resort because it is by a river inlet is sort of light green/dark green and the beach is shallow. I go to the Carrribean for the blue water so the water situation here was a huge bummer for me but it was 80 degrees and warm so I made the best of it.

I went and seen the ruins at Chichen Itza and here is a tip. On the main drag near the Hotels catch the R1 bus to the downtown Cancun bus station 3 1/2 pesos anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, if the resort isn't right near the main Hotel avenue then ask at your hotel directions to the R1 bus to downtown Cancun. Once on that bus ask the driver (bus station). Once your at the main bus station buy a round trip tick on the ADO (pronounced ADIO) bus for Chichen Itsa about 350 pesos or around $35.00 dollars. The bus leaves at 9AM and returns at 4:30PM. Once on that bus it stops If I remember once but ultimately drops you off at the front to the ruins; enjoy. Don't bother getting a guide at the ruins pay 95 pesos or $9.00 and walk around and take pictures. This is a cheap way to see the ruins instead of a $100.00 plus tour.

There isn't much in downtown Cancun all the main tourist restaurants and shopping malls and stuff are about right in the center of the large backwards C shaped peninsula which is hotel or resort alley so I would find a resort around there.

If the water here would have been the blue then this would have been great. As you can see from the pitures it isn't the turquoise water; it is though down the peninsula at most other resorts but because of the river inlet right near here.

I just got back from this place on a bachelorette party . We didn't expect a fancy hotel by any means but this place was just plain gross. We had to switch rooms when we arrived due to a flood in the bathroom. We got to our new room and found a roach. The staff was soooo unfriendly for the most part. The one good area was the pool area. It had a nice pool and outside area. The food was pretty bad also. We all had a great time going out in Cancun but this hotel was falling apart. The last day we were there, there was tons of water gushing from the elevator. It got to the point where we were laughing about what was going to go wrong next. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone if you value your health!

“Not so kids friendly”

I stayed at Oasis Palm Beach for 3 nights with my husband and 2 children. (3 & 1 yrs old) I was looking for a family friendly hotel, but this hotel wasn't quite there yet.

1. The major problem we had was that it was so hard to get a glass of whole milk! They usually serve Nido(powder milk), and we constantly had to ask for a "real" milk. If this is a family resort, shouldn't milk be available to kids?
2. Lobby stairs to outside pool area was made by black marble which is very dangerous to kids. It is slippery, and hard to see the edges.
3. There was no lamps for strollers to go around the facilities. We always had to carry up and down the stairs.
4. No bathtubs in the hotel room at all. It is not convenient for small children to take a bath without tubs.

Although we didn't like the facility much, most of the workers there were very nice and tried to accomodate us as much as possible. We always left some tips after we received services, however, not many people left tips. They work so hard, and they diserve it.

Highlight of our stay there was the kids club pool. We used it every day, and no one else came to use it. It was so private and peaceful.

I hope the hotel will make some improvement to much the name "family resort." Otherwise, I do not recommend this hotel to a family with young children.

I have never written a review like this but after reading some of the reviews on here, I felt compelled to add my overview. Just so you can assess if you think my opinion is worth anything, my father used to be a hotel manager, my mother was in catering and I stay in 5* hotels around the world with my job (sadly, can't always afford them on my own time!!). I also arrange big client conventions and I have to be picky as everything has to be perfect for those events.

The Oasis Palm beach is a lovely hotel and everything has to be viewed bearing in mind the fact that it is very reasonably priced. If you want a fur trimmed shower curtain, stay at the Hilton!! Check in was swift and staff helpful. Another review mentioned that there is no air con in the public areas. There actually is but it isn't overly powerful so if there is a large group checking in, yes it is a little warm And no, as another review mentions, there is no AC in the elevators but if you are planning on spending huge amounts of time in there, Cancun will be wasted on you!!

The rooms are perfectly adequate but very Mexican ie, focused on being functional rather than frilly. One side of the hotel looks out over the sea and the other over the laguna, so great views each side. AC very efficient (we had to keep turning it off at night as we were cold!). Floors and bathroom are all marble/tile and there is a shower! To clear up the whole mini bar debacle - mini bars are not in the rooms as standard. You can choose to have one put in and select a promotion of 16 or 25 mixed drinks (waters, beers, soft drinks etc). From memory, the 25 drink promotion was about £25/$50. I have stayed AI before where mini bars are not included. There may be other, higher star resorts where it is included but you will probably have paid a much higher price. So, go to one of the many bars in this hotel, order as many drinks as you like, and take them up with you!!!! Again, if you are spending too much time in your room, Cancun isn't the resort for you. Also, you cannot sit on your balcony with a drink as the hotel doesn't have any!!!! Many hotels in Cancun don't due to the hurricane risk (they get ripped off and thrown about).

I was there for a week, and was not approached once regarding timeshare and I spoke to the concierge staff on a couple of occasions as they handle the restaurant reservations for the a la carte restaurants. On that point, I wasn't approached at all whilst in Cancun - just say no thanks and keep walking and you'll never be bothered by anyone.

Food at the Oasis Palm Beach is extensive and varied and they do tend to have local traditional dishes on offer as well as more "usual" stuff hence the reason there can be some quite entertaining dishes at breakfast. And here is my only real complaint: some of the heat lamps in the buffet restaurants are not as powerful as they should be and some food is lukewarm. However, you can always go and help yourself to something else, it is AI after all!!!

Pool is fab and staff are generally lovely. As usual in these places, a couple of pounds in the right direction and you are treated like royalty. Also, the public areas of this hotel are the cleanest of any beach hotel I've ever stayed at. Just to answer another review, water is free throughout the hotel but if you specify bottled mineral water, it will be treated as imported and therefore chargeable. All Cancun hotels are supplied with purified water so you can even drink out the taps if you wish. Just order generically for your drinks, eg. rum and coke, scotch and coke etc and you'll never pay a penny!

So that is my input. We had a fab holiday. You'll find swankier AI resorts but you'll have paid an awful lot more to stay there. Don't hesitate to book the Oasis Palm Beach! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!!
