well.....in a nutshell.....here goes! we shared facilities with next door oasis hotel the caribbean. this side though was worse here at the palm beach. wall to wall high schoolers or college grads celebrating. pool bar if you call it that...maybe 5 seats. people so drunk they were puking in pool..it was floating! disgusting. blasting 'young' music....rap....some raggae....some mexican. some young girls topless on floats in pool and on beach. necking all in pool! come on! believe it or not....best thing about the pool scene here was the food....good burgers...dogs and fish and shrimps! until they closed it for remodeling! there went the fish...shrimps for rest of stay! never moved it over to the burger stand. out of luck. the beach...OMG...putrid smell of sewage every day. or was it that black sea grass that covered the ocean water and the beaches? rocky too! the ocean water where it wasn't black was a dirty green. and it is only top of leg deep all the way out to the ropes where the boats come in! yeah...boats! they are right across from you! the dinner pirate ships go out next door! 3 of them!
restaurants....lines. some not open. one end of pool.....almost 6 ft deep....if you can't swim...you have the kiddie pool and the pukey bar pool left. not that there are 3 pools....all 3 connect into 1 pool. so you know that puke is all over. never again! i am amazed at the good reviews this place is getting. and....nothing wrong with the mexican people...they indeed are hard working nice folks but because this hotel is at the bottom of the hotel chain.....all the locals congregate here for the weekend or get a day pass.
if you like a pleasant 3/4 star hotel....this isn't for you. save your money or spend a little more and upgrade to something better. we've learned our lesson! no more oasis chains for us.

Stayed there from June 14-18 09 I have stayed there before and it was excellent this time, I took my 10 year old and we both had a blast, We met many friends, Hello to Rickey and Bernice from Chicago, Tony and Leslie from Jackson Miss, and Jose from Houston.
Guys we all had a great time the food and distilled spirits were excellent.
Also Aquaworld staff of Julio and Monica were great at the hotel .
thanks for the scuba lesson for my ten year old he really enjoyed it

My wife and I travel to Cancun by ourselves every spring and again on July 4th week every year with our 3 kids. We usually stay at another resort when its just us two going, but we usually stay here each year with the kids.

The food is great for an all inclusive hotel and is very much on par with the other hotels in the area. The staff is always generally helpful and with a little tipping along the way, the extra attention they give is well worth it.

The draw for us is really the kids club which all of our kids really love. They always miss the staff after we leave and talk about how great they were for months after. Also for the price, you cant beat it. We pay the same amount of money for our entire family to stay here as my wife and I spend with just the two of us going to other hotels in Cancun.

We are heading back to the Oasis Palm Beach in 2 weeks and everyone is excited about it as we always are. While there are always things that I wish were a little better here, overall it is a fantastic bargain for Cancun lovers. Looking forward to our trip.

The receptionists are TERRIBLY rude and completely unaccomodating. Don't expect them to actually have the room you requested 'on time' or 'at all'. The beds were comfortable and soft, but the bathroom was a little icky and the floor was sticky.
The pool is almost like a hot tub because it is so hot and it was full of sand at the bottom.
The food was ok, acceptable. The asian restaurant requires reservations, but they will probably let you in anyway, the prices are ok and it was my favorite. The other places were good ok too.
The swimming beach is tiny and doesn't let you go out very far, just up to your chest, but the water is very calm and luke warm around this hotel.
There are a lot of local fisherman and people that hang around this hotel, so you may not want to walk around outside too much.
There is a car rental place across the bridge across from the sky needle. There is also some tourist places across the bridge if you want some souvenirs. There is a convenient store down from the car rental place where you can buy some snacks and drinks.
Cancun is incredibly hot, that is coming from a midwesterner who lives in the deep south.
WE took a day trip to Tulum by a rented car. The drive was very easy and smooth (gas stations attendents will fill up your car so be prepared to tip or just act stupid. Tulum has lots of parking and the beach there is BEAUTIFUL, wear a bathing suit because you will be so hot. Seriously, IT IS HOTTTTT AS HELL. The beach here is not so calm so might be dangerous if you have kids.

Otherwise, enjoy. But look for other accomodations.

Oh where to start! Went with a group of family and friends (15 total)! There are alot of tricks and tips to make this hotel a good experience!
First THE ROOM GAME-apparently at check in they try to give you the worst possible room to see if you'll settle for it--DON'T! Leave your bags and any other family members in the Lobby-go up to this room and check it out! Make sure a/c works, lights work, toilet works ect. . . If its not acceptable-request nicely that you be moved (have a ten dollar bill in your hand) and all of a sudden-heaven! Our rooms (group) were in the ground level of the new building all with patios-very niceat no extra cost! We were all within one room of each other. Rooms (069, 071, 072, and 075) 075 was closest to the beach. Excellent Location!
Yes all the rooms have an odor (it's Sulfa) When you run the shower or the water it smell alittle like rotten eggs. Believe it or not, you get used to it. Tap water isn't even good enough to brush your teeth. We always got bottled water from gift shop(ice cold Liters) for 3.50 us. You can get a case of water at walmart cheaper but we opted for ice cold every night! You can also bring empty water bottles to the buffet and get filtered water in soda machine-everyone did this also. Oh yeah-don't lose your room key $20 each) and there is no such thing as Lost and Found. You lose it, it's gone!!!
The TOWEL GAME: This was so not fun! Basically you get towel cards (look exactly like room card keys) at check in. One for every member of your group. You take this card to the towel hut-turn them in and get your towels. At the end of your day you take the soaking wet towels back to the hut and get your cards back. They never have clean towels for the next day at the end of the day. Now here's the problem--the pools close at 8pm. The towel hut closes at 6pm (Sharp). You cannot leave your wet towels on the stand because they you will have no cards to get towels the next day. You have to then bring your wet towels back to your room (very smelly). They charge $20 for every lost towel card or towel. This promotes people to steal other peoples towels. All towels look exactly alike. Not to mention the fact that the towels are worn and torn-why would anyone one want to steal them--oh wait I know-beacuse they ration out the room towel for showering! Ok-so here's what you do---wait until the end of the day (around 7pm) theres always about 40 towels left on beach chairs all over the resort. (the staff will pick these up if you dont) Gather them up and put them on your patio. Then have a different member of your group bring 6 or so towels to the hut and get new dry ones. Do this every day and at the end of your trip you'll have more than enough towels and card to check out without being charged and then give extra card to other guests. (Towel Fairy)
The CHAIR SAVING DEAL: It's true--you have to get up by 7AM or earlier to put your towels and personal belonging on chairs. It's totally worth it!
THE KID CLUB- Just don't! Lots of activities but no one watches your children-they are on thier own! We had one little girl (8yrs old) get approached by a 13 year old boy and make suggestive comments and tried to touch her. Staff did nothing-too busy texting! even when we flipped out on the manager of Kid's Club, still nothing. This little boy remained in Club with other children. Finally got the Hotel Manager involved--Did we even get an apology! Just Dont--ENOUGH SAID!
The BRACELET DEAL: This is two hotels in one. Oasis Palm Beach and Oasis Grand Carribean. They are connected. OPB-Purple bracelets -- OGC-Black bracelets.
Black bracelet you can go anywhere, eat anywhere, you dont play towel game. Purple bracelets you fight for eveything you get. There are two pools. The big Pool-with music and pool bar is at oasis. The serenity pool (beautiful) is maybe 200 yards away. If you have a purple bracelet you can swim in the pool but you cannot get a drink at the bar. Now if you have a dollar in your hand for a tip, you can get served anywhere! There was a couple of bartenders that would not serve us but all the pool waitresses and corner bar would with no problem (don't go up to bar if manager is there-white collared shirt)!
The FOOD DEAL: The Ibiza-big buffet- great selection. Open all day. No soda in the am (wierd)- Sarape-Small buffet next door (has brick oven pizza for lunch and dinner. Asian restuarant was Awesome! Open Lunch and dinner! Coconut soup was tasty. Sushi incredible! Best Frozen Margarita in the entire resort! Service--SLOW. Coco's restuarant Open Lunch and Dinner-very good for Lunch- Dinner not so great! Still had a beautiful view. No reservations at any of restuarants and its the line up and wait game. If you wait with ten dollars in your hand-a table magically appears. Magic! Also there is no alcohol drinks in buffet, but you can get them and bring them in with you. They do have wine and a beer tap.
The EXCURSIONS: Going off the resort can be a challange. Everyone pays different prices. Best thing to do is educate yourself on the things you want to do. We booked the Isle Murelis-all Day Dolphin swim/Royal Garrafon trip directly through Garrafon National Park before we left Boston. It was $99 for Adults and $69 for Children, that included-Boat ride over to island, All Drinks (even alcohol) ALL Food All Day. 45 Dolphin Swim-Unlimited Snorkeling and Zip Line (Long Lines) The island is beautiful-Lots of Lizards (Huge ones)
Pirate Ship--we booked there. We saw prices all over the board-from 65 to 95 us dollars. We found the best deal right at our resort. By the big pool is a small hut that books excursions. They have different specials every day. You can package some things and get even better deals. Also just below the hotel lobby is another agent booking excursions. If you want a good deal-check pricing at both. We ended up booking the trip for 65 per person 35 for kids and got 15% off total because of the group.
We had the Black Pearl boat-by far the best ship. Was fantastic experience!
Drinks were great- Food-passable! The Actors and Actresses deserve a special mention--very entertaining. Get there early and line up! It's worth the wait for a good seat on the main deck! It's a quick walk to the boat dock from the hotel. 5 minutes, tops!
We also went on the Jungle Tour-also book through the Beach/Poolside agent. 4 Families small boats out to snorkel thru mangroves. Very scenic-no jungle! About 150.00 us for family of four! 3 Hour trip!
All in All-It was a great trip! I think if you plan ahead and know the tricks and tips, you'll do fine. Remember alittle money goes a long way. If they won't give you what your requesting-Flash some cash! You'll get it.
Some Quick tips:
1. Bring lots of $1 and $5-they cannot make change. We brought 300.00 in ones!
2. Get a safe $3.50 a day-worth it!!
3. Bring large cups from home for drinks-hotel uses 6oz dixie cups.
4. Bring a few beach towel from home to save chairs by the pool or beach.
5. Bring extra Suncreen. Don't underestimate Sun.
6. Relax--It's a vacation!
