We just came back from our trip to Cancun. We stayed at Oasis Palm Beach for one full week and a great time. Before, we booked this resort, we read the reviews on tripadvisor and decided to check it out anyway (the price was very cheap compared to others.)
Here are a few things we would love to compliment about the resort.
THE KIDS CLUB: If you have young children, they would love this club. My son is 5 years old and he loves to come there everyday. They had about 5 - 8 staffs working to keep the kids entertain. They had a kiddie pool with slide, play ground, theater, art room, computer room, camping room. They had activities through out the day and they make sure the kids dont get sun burn. The kids club was separated from the general public a little, which mean the kids cant get out without go through the office and anyone get in without permission from front desk - this made me feel safe. The staffs were very nice, caring and fun. My husband and I felt safe enough to get out of the resort or relax by the pool when my son is at the club.
THE FOOD: It was great. No super fancy but it was good for the money. Unless you are a fine diner, the food will be more than enough to satisfied you. The buffet are the best. The asian and mexican restaurants were better but can be a long wait. No reservation needed.
THE POOL: I took my kids to the Grand Ossis next door pool. It was less party and alcohol.
THE ROOM: We first received a partial ocean view room which view the pool and the lagoon. I ask to change room and they gave us a very nice room with beautiful view of the ocean.
THE STAFFs: They are very nice hard working people. We all miss them after we left. They made us felt like family when we are there.

In conclusion, I dont understand why people wrote so bad review about this hotel. My family and I had a great time and will come back soon. If you are middle class family and you tried to travel on a budget, this is your best option.

While I understand you "get what you pay for" in this world, we didn't.

Let's start with service:
Sometimes the room will be cleaned early, sometimes late, but either way, you will never receive all of the bath mats, towels, or toiletries in one visit.

If you want to be served at the beach side grill, (where they make hamburgers and hotdogs), you better be mexican or low class enough to line jump or you will wait for 45 minutes while the two aforementioned classes are served first - no control of the lines, no desire to serve in order arrived.

On to the food: PATHETIC! I was at an ALL INCLUSIVE and went out to eat several times just so I could have a decent meal.

Location: Near some small shops and had a nice beach, but the swimming area never get deeper than 3 feet. If you want to dip your whole body in the water, laying down was the only option.

Nowhere near any of the newer, upscale attractions like Coco Bongo or La Isla Shopping Cneter.

Relaxation: None - always being phoned or accosted in the hotel about a "special offer just for you" = TIME SHARE SALESPEOPLE. Even after being there a week, they still tryed to get me each time I walked through the lobby.

Me and a group of friends returned about 2 weeks ago and thought this hotel deserved a review. We arrived with a coach full of others and sat down in a room where we were handed our room cards and had the bands for the hotel put on.
We had 4 rooms between the 11 of us which were all grouped together on the 4th floor. The rooms were fine, all had air con, TV's and really comfy beds (which turned out to be life savers after a late night out) The only thing they really missed were maybe a little fridge just to keep water cold. During our first week the hotel was pretty quiet after the swine flu outbreak, however there were still plenty of staff around, in our second week the hotel filled up a lot.
The pool was large and always clean, the bar in the pool was also a nice surprise, and always busy. The sea was a nice change from the pool and much better if you wanted to cool down.
The food was good, although the buffet did get a bit boring after two weeks but that can be expected. The pizzas for lunch were always nice and if you didn't fancy the 10-15 minute wait for one you could get a burger or hot dog from Angel (The hardest working guy on the planet, seemed to be working 12 hour days for the whole 2 weeks we were there.)
I have no idea what daunapaq is talking about in a few reviews below as we were their at the same time as him (while they were refurbishing the fish restaurant) I never saw any sick in the pool and i was in there most of everyday, so it was definitely not everywhere as he states...
For those people staying here and planning on going out into the party zone, i suggest catching the buses rather than a taxi as it will save you a vast amount of money, the bus stop is about 3 minutes walk down the road and it will cost you 10 pesos no matter where you go, better than a taxi which will cost you 10 times as much.

I booked my trip through US Airways Vacations. I was originally booked into the Oasis Viva Beach, and called to inform the reservation agent that the hotel is closed for the moment. I was re-booked into the Oasis Palm Beach. CHECK-IN: Check-in was OK -- I arrived at 1 p.m. and my room was not ready, but I was booked into an alternate room immediately. The lobby was hot. I noticed, however, on some days the lobby was cooled by a brilliant breeze so I think it depends upon the weather. I agree they should air-condition the common areas. ROOM: The room was big, immaculate and cool. I didn't have an ocean view, and didn't care. The lagoon is beautiful and I had a vista of distant hotels along the shore. I had two double beds (shoved together so the effect is like a huge king-size bed) with bed-side tables on either side, both with lamps. There was a glass-topped table with two chairs, and a built-in banquette with cushion and several throw-pillows. There is a built-in bureau with TV (with several English stations), four drawers, and ample closet with about 20 hangers. There is no ironing board or iron (why on Earth would one need one at this place?) but they are available from housekeeping. Maid service was excellent (tip $2 per day); if you don't care for room cleaning before noon, simply put out your 'privacy' sign and they will come back. The 'mini bar' has four assorted sodas, two one-litre bottles of water and two beers replenished daily. If you care only for diet soda, put a note in with $1 and you'll get it. FOOD: The food was very good, and I had duck breast with an orange glaze at the buffet; the pasta stations are always a good option, and the desserts were tempting (although I didn't partake except to make an ice cream sundae one time). There is never a wait to eat, anywhere. I don't even know if they take reservations, as none are needed. I did hear some people grousing that they had to wait until 6:30 to get into buffets for dinner. Wine is available at lunch and dinner (self-serve at the bar area). Note that diet soda is a special-order item, but certainly available (just not available at the self-serve beverage area). There is a limited 24-hour room service menu and I had excellent steak and fries early one morning; service is supposed to take 45 minutes but my dinner arrived in 15. BEACH: Beautiful with pristine sand and crystal-clear water. No problem ever finding a shady spot to lounge, and no need to get up early to 'reserve' a spot with a towel. I spent a lot of time here reading and watching folks play volleyball and soccer. POOLS: There are two large pools, one with a swim-up bar that is close to the snack huts (where Angel makes the best burgers in Mexico) that has a DJ and attracts the more festive crowd; the other pool is more quiet, but also very large with big water jets at the end closest to the beach. LOCATION: It's OK. The Embarcadero is a two-minute walk away over the bridge; if you want a helicopter ride or to go on the Pirate dinner cruise, it is very convenient. The best gift shop in town is on the upper level of the Embarcadero complex in a combined folk art museum and gift shop with very good prices. ACTIVITIES: The hotel has numerous outlets for tours and excursions, so it is easy to shop around. They have on-site parasailing ($40), boat rents, etc. There is a show at night (9:30 p.m.) and the information is posted on the activities board. BARS: Numerous. If you think there isn't enough alcohol in your drink, ask for more. Tip $1 every other drink or so. CLEANLINESS: The place is immaculate. STAFF: The staff here is very friendly, although many do not speak a speck of English. That's OK; we should remember that we are in their country. Finally, when it doubt, tip. The universe rewards a generous soul. TIPS: Don't lose your towel card, issued at check-in. Do rent the room safe (they give you a lock and key when you check in and the cost is $3.50 per day). Do NOT drink the water at this hotel; if your party needs more than the 2 litres provided daily in the mini-bar, save your water battle and refill it for free with the purified water available at the buffets' self-serve beverage area.

Weve just arrived back from two weeks in cancun and feel we have to write a review after the most amazing two weeks we had! Before we departed I had researched the hotel on this website and to be honest was a little apprehensive as to what the hotel we would be like. Let me just say...previous reviews do not give the hotel justice.
CHECK IN: We arrived at the hotel late afternoon and the room was ready for us straight away, we were quickly checked in and our bags taken to our room, our room was clean and spacious, with life saving air conditioning already on. we wasnt given a sea view, however, were not bothered as we came to relax, not complain and we also hadnt requested one. (3x couples we met on the holiday, returned to reception after check in, asked for a sea view and were moved with no hassle).
STAFF: All staff were extremely friendly. Even the windows cleaners and floor polishers will greet you and give you a smile as you walk past. They are constantly cleaning and the hotel is always immaculate. Angel as the beach bar (who cooks the burgers) is the most hardworking man ever! He is constantly rushed off his feet but always smiles and apologises if you have to wait for food. The maids were very efficient and our rooms were cleaned everyday, on numerous occasions we had the do not disturb sign on our door till about 3 (when they cleaned our floor at around 11) and they would still return later in the day to clean our room.
The only small problem we would say we had was with the staff at the bar. We found that the bar staff never really kept note of who was first in the queue for drinks and sometimes would serve 4 people who arrived after you, before you. We also found that if you spoke spanish you had to simply walk up to the bar shout out your order and would be served immediately, when others had to wait which we found unfair. However, this didnt really cause any trouble and you would get served in the end!
We found out whilst in the taxi one night that the minimum wage in Mexico is 48 pesos (£2.50) for eight hours work, which he said would most likely be the hotel staffs wage, so for the amount they are paid I would say they are excellent.
FOOD: The hotel has five resturants, 2 buffet,1 mexican, 1 seafood and 1 asian (pizza resturant is also open when it feels like it!). The two latter are absolutely brilliant and could pass as top resturants in london! All of the resturants are gorgeously designed and decorated and the staff are extremely effiecient and helpful. We never ate out once in the two weeks and still looked forward to every meal. I agree the buffet can get a tiny bit boring near the end of the holiday, but wouldnt any buffet?
I have also read you have to make reservations at 6am in the morning or you cant eat (which i think maybe a little dramatic). Whilst we were here, we had to make no reservations and were served neraly immediately at all the resturants (the seafood sometimes had a short wait, but it is right next to the bar so you just go and have free drinks!)
ENTERTAINMENT: We didnt really stay for any of the night entertainment as we tended to go into the party zone but I thinks it either Karaoke, Tropical Show or Tropical Band. During the day they hold volleyball, yoga, pool games etc to keep you occupied.
BEACH: Yes the beach is shallow and next to marina but it is still beautiful. The seaweed is raked out each morning and night so the water is very clear. There were always free chairs throughout the day so there was no need to put your towels on early in the morning.
LOCATION: The hotel is in a good location, around 5-10 mins from party zone. If you get a taxi make sure you haggle because they start off about twice as much as you would pay at home when petrol is only 40p a litre!
Walmart is a bus ride away and a small market is 2mins walk away.

Overall I would give this hotel 4.5/5. For the price is is excellent value and I would happily return next year or next week if I could! We met quite a few people whilst on this holiday and all of them would say the exact same!
