Then visit this resort. One of the best holidays we have had. Wonderful, breathtaking, out of this world. Hotel staff, builders, waiters in fact anyone you meet it was always a smile and iholla (sorry not a good speller) you are made to feel so welcome it is like another world. Food in resturants is fantastic. Beeches were clean and big enough for everyone.
The only thing i can honestly say was a negative was that there were no seating area or benches that you could sit on after you left the resturants. The only other thing that was a not so enjoyable was the place where they try to sell you half price holidays, we spent 6 hours there so lost a day.Other than that there were no negatives.
Worth every penny. The brochures only give you half the picture so does the web site. This is a holiday that is worth doing again.

My husband and I stayed at EDR for our 2 year anniversary after spending a wonderful honeymoon here in 2007. Previously we had a 2nd floor Casita (3021) so this time we decided to splurge for the newest section and a swim-up. We had an infinity swim-up (3120) this time and loved it!! Once again, I cannot find a single thing to complain about, as was the general consensus we got from everyone we met! I'll give a brief run-down on our experience and pictures will be included as well!

ROOMS: Ours was an infinity swim-up which led into the lazy river to the pool. It was beautiful, CLEAN, and very convenient. The housekeeper spent close to an hour in there every day tidying up. The bed was excellent, and I requested a firmer pillow which they bring to you off the "Pillow Menu" free of charge. PLENTY of room in the bathroom (bigger than other Casita bathrooms). Only a few warnings: our outdoor shower head was very strong, and I chose to use the indoor shower each day instead. Last trip I used the outdoor shower every day. Also, be sure to DRY YOUR FEET well before coming in. The floors are tile and get very slippery and more than once we had a few close calls! Finally, prop your sliding door with something if you plan to be in and out of your swim-up. We put a sock there and left it all week. No one will move it because they know you do not want to get locked out. We tipped our housekeeper $5/day and she was perfect.

POOLS/BARS: Always clean, warm, perfect. Our bartender was Rodolfo (Rudy) and sometimes Beatriz. We loved our drinks and our time spent with them. They work their tails off at the bar and back and forth to the beach, loungers, Presidentials, etc. They entertained us with great bar tricks, and we had a blast! Other bars such as the beach bar, JoJo's, and the Martini bar were great as well.

RESTAURANTS: Can't complain AT ALL. For people who complain about portion size I ask, "HOW???" I felt like a blimp after my appetizer and soup each night. Most waiters recommend you order from each section of the menu, but most nights I just couldn't! I know I gained 5 lbs. there! All restaurants are delicious, but my favorite is D'Italia (ask for Ricardo!!) and my husbands is Kampai. Cocotal has a great a la carte and buffet for breakfast, Kampai also serves breakfast, and the lunches at JoJo's and Cabana are delicious. A few hints: we showed up late for a few reservations, and it was o.k. because the resort was only at 55% capacity, but w/o a reservation people were waiting over an hour at La Fondue and D'Italia. They were not stricly enforcing the dress code, which I was a little upset about. How do you come on a $5,000 vacation and wear cut-offs to dinner?????? Casita Section 31 has a great little grill restaurant for lunch! And room service can make you almost anything, even if it's not on the menu!

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
*Say no to the time share offers unless you really want to sit and waste 3 hours of your day for a "free massage" - we met a few couples who fell for it and were unhappy about the time it took. I believe the cheapest they start at is $19,000 - so you decide if it's something you want to do.

*Don't miss the pottery by the main pool. We missed it last time and did it this time and were so impressed. It ranges in price from $15 and up, but the guy touches it up after you finish, glazes it, fires it, and has it back to you the next day by 11 and it's BEAUTIFUL!!! We now have two nice pieces to remind us of our trip! Well worth the time and money.

*Guacaymayas Bar just reopened and it's excellent!! We went to kareoke night and had a blast.

*They will give you three $200 vouchers upon check-in at the Casitas. They try to make it sound like you have the spend them all on one thing (wine at dinner, at the Spa,or for extra candlelight dinners) but you don't. Also, if your hubby doesn't want a massage, I weasled a massage and hydrating facial out of them. It totaled $218 and they only charged me the one voucher. We use another voucher for three bottles of wine at dinners, and didn't use the last one. We were told by a Lomas travel rep that we could use it on our excursion (which they charged to our room) but upon check-out we were todl this was wrong. We didn't argue - we thought they guy was wrong all along, but figured we'd try it.

*There are no Coronas, so we had our limo driver stop at a grocery store on the way from the airport to the resort. We bought 12 bottles and couldn't fit them all in our fridge, and when they guy who fills the fridge saw this, he said he had a big surprise for us. He came back a few minutes later with a cooler and another 6-pack of Corona cans!! He told us to get ice from the bartender and enjoy! How sweet is that??

*Tipping is supposed to be included, but if you pay attention to detail you will see how hard they work, from always using your name in restaurants, to the guy who brought us the Coronas, to being able to ask for ANYTHING while you're there and never hearing the word NO. At dinner one night I was torn btw. steak and jumbo shrimp, and Ricardo said, "You just have both!" and he put some shrimp on the side of my steak. We tipped all of our waiters, bartenders, housekeepers, and sometimes even the shuttle guy if he went out of his way to take us somewhere. We also tipped for our excursions and transfers. If you see some of the slums around the resort you know how poor the country is. The staff are some of the NICEST people I've ever met, and they deserve to live happy.

Disregard the negative reviews of this hotel. We stayed in the Castita section and it was absolutely amazing. The staff is so friendly and the food was great.

First off, a group of fourteen Travel Agents all traveled together to see a total of 14 properties in the Cancun and Riviera Maya area. We were very fortunate to have a stay at in a Swim-Up Casita. My room was 3028 and it was lovely!! This resort is truly made for couples, but since I was not traveling with my spouse but with a group of friends/colleagues, it was still wonderful to be at an adult only property. I had sold this property on many occassions, but had not ever stayed. Here are a few things I loved...

1) FOOD! This is truly a gourmet resort. Everything I had was wonderful. We loved Kampai and ate every morning in the Cocotal resturant. Several in my group ordered room service and all enjoyed it. The service was outstanding!

2) Beach Beds! Staying in the Casita section, we loved using the beach beds.

3) Martini Bar! Had fun hanging out in the martini bar a few times. The service was wonderful and I suggest you try a chocolate martini!

4) Spa! I recieved a complimentary chair massage and it was great! Many of my friends did get to use the spa one day during the stay and really liked it. The facility was top-notch.

5) My Casita! I am so spoile now! How could I ever stay in any other type of room!!??! Well, it was so lovely. The maid, Rosalia was amazing! She kept my room super clean and every night I had turn down service with soft music and towel art. The Casita was a swim-up, which was great! We had direct access to the lazy river that went to the swim-up bar in our sections. The room was large - it had a king size bed, two person jacuzzi, a desk, a table for two and the bathroom was also great! In the bathroom it had a double vanity as well as a large tub. My favorite though was the extremely romantic outdoor shower!

6) The grounds! This resort is is large, but so beautiful! Being in the Casita section, it was a long walk to the front lobby area - but it was a beautiful walk or ride in the golf cart. The plants and trees were amazing! I was so impressed and really appreciate all the hard work the grounds keepers do in keeping this place so lovely.

I am not a complainer, and really have nothing bad to say about the resort. As a Travel Agent, I do feel it is important that people know what to expect though.

1) They use large sand bags out in the ocean, we call them "the whales". They are a big ugly, but really after being at the resort for a few days - I didn't even notice them. It is very important that those "whales" are there thought. Without them, the beach would be ruined. It also makes swimming in most areas more calm and very easy to snorkel. The resort has alot of natural coral, rocks and plants. This made snorkeling very fun. It was nice not to be beat upon with the waves as well. Just know that laying in your beach bed you will see these bags and do not let it affect your stay negatively.

2) The large resort can be tiring to get around fi you are needing to go to the opposit end like I had to alot. I was in Casita section 3000 and our group met alot in the Main Lobby....to walk it, it was hot and long. I did not really mind as I like to walk...but when you are dressed up for the evening and have to meet in the lobby for a deadline....it was tiring. I think if I had been staying for a romantic trip with my husband, it would not have mattered because we would of been going around the property at our own leisure.

Sorry for the long review. I know it many others have made some of the same comments I have. I hope that if you are considering this resort for your plans, that you will go and enjoy! It was a wonderful place and I cannot wait to return with my husband for a romantic get-away of a lifetime!
