This place is special!

Weve both been on a number of long haul holidays but we had such a relaxing time on this holiday that I would have to rate it as our best. My favourite part of this resort was the four poster beds on the beach. This meant I could chill out in the shade while my partner indulged in some sun bathing. In fact we enjoyed this set up so much we didnt leave the resort at any time during our two week stay!

I would DEFINITELY recommend this hotel for people who want some luxury. The Adults only policy contributes to the place being so laid back.

It would be great if the hotel could add a 'nightclub' to the resort, because when we stayed there it was in desperate need of a dedicated area for people to listen to some up to date music. We love dancing and that was the one thing that was missing for us.

Also there were a number of customer service issues during our stay, but we were able to solve these problems with the full support of the management team.

I hope we stay at this hotel again!

just writing to say what a great holiday me and my wife had here. I'am going to go through each aspect of the trip
1-room. i cant recomend this hotel highly enough! we stayed in the casita suites which were absouletly fantastic. the best thing about the room was the in room jaccuzi bath which me made great use of. The casitas are a bit extra but worth every penny.
2-service. the staff at this hotel would always go out of there way to help you and room service is brilliant. have to mention abel, he is a barman at one of the casita swim up bars and always had our drinks ready for us.
3-location. If your looking for a relaxing beach holiday this is the place for you, but if your looking for a lively holiday you should book a hotel in cancun. We did go into cacun one night and did enjoy it, but one night was more than enough. the taxi fare into cancun was about $35. we also went into playa del carmen for a night and found this a much more enjoyable night out, not as lively as cancun but there is still plenty to do.
4-food. went here expecting the worse when the food was described as gourmet al a carte, but was deffinataley surprised how much i enjoyed the food and it widened my food horizons no ends. Would reccomend the asian and the itialian but as i say all the restaurants are amazing!
5-trips. we went on three different trips
a-the coba and tulum mayan sights. this was a brilliant trip, but should warn you that the coba part of the trip is in the middle of the jungle and can get very warm and humid.
The tulum part of the trip was great, at the end you get to go down to beach which is one of the best beaches i have ever been to. the sites at both of these locations really do take you back to what it was like in the mayan era.
b-the catamaran trip to the mexican reef, which is the second largest reef in the world. wasn't really my thing but my wife loved it.
c-portaveuturus which i also wasn't to fond of but again my wife loved as she had a royale swim with the dolphin which she is always going on about!
It has took me a while to post this as ive only learned to read. hope this helps you make up your mind!!!

Great Resort but avoid any issues if possible. Customer service is not their strongest point

We went to this resort based on friends and Trip Advisor's reviews. The place was beautiful and much more lush then the pictures revealed on their website. Very expansive too; about 3.5 miles long! We liked that everything was quaint and only a few buildings were 3 stories; the rest was 1-2. We had some challenges with our reservation/upgrades being incorrect and then several other "issues" during our stay. When the issues were shared with management they responded poorly. In fact, their customer service was mediocre considering the level and cost of this resort. Loved the beds on the beach and at the pool. Lots of palapas on the beach with chairs. Water was a bit rocky and the sandbags were odd. Food was excellent but only 1/2 of the restaurants were open.
Snorkeling @ Puerto Morelos was better than Cozumel in 07.

We were at this resort for the wedding of our daughter. It was a awesome resort. The rooms were really beautiful. The food was wonderful (very gourmet in selection and presentation), and the service was also first rate. We stayed in an Ocean View room, but you won't be able to see the ocean unless you are on an upper floor room. Our room looked out over one of the many swimming pools. The ocean was directly in front of us, but a little walk away. If you can swing the cost, the Casita Suites are fabulous. I'm not sure if they all do, but my daughers has a swim up pool, that is very private and leads to the larger pool. They also have an outdoor bed on the patio for relaxing.
We had massages and I got a pedicure for the wedding. I don't think the pedicure compares to the ones I have gotten here in the states, but the massage was really good.
The only drawback to this resort, is that it is very spread out and if you want to go somewhere you may have to walk some distance unless you wait for one of the shuttes to come by and take you. I would definitely recommend this resort!!!

My wife specializes in destination weddings to Mexico. So she is constantly traveling and checking out resorts. While she is the expert and has been to nearly all of them, here is the "husband's" opinion of the last trip I was able to tag along on.

The El Dorado Royale is wonderful! We stayed in a swimout Casita. Taking the lazy river to the bar was completely over-indulgent but fun. I Would definitely go back to this one.

Pros:
- great pools
- incredible food (its gourmet which is not usually associated with an all-inclusive)
- service, over the top
- pleasant friendly staff who greet you everywhere
- spa - great, had a massage there (while the wife was performing resort site inspections)
- Occupancy was low so very quiet by the Casita pools.
- great wedding locations, on the beach and a chapel. (My wife has me tuned to look at this, very sad)
- reasonably priced for what you get.
- very romantic
- free room service. speedy and excellent

Cons:
Not too many to speak of
- beach is a little rocky and has what the call sand whales to prevent erosion, but not a show stopper. Water is beautiful and swimmable.
- large resort, staff uses golf carts to get around. You can catch a ride with any of them. I was shocked how often I was asked if I needed a ride while walking.
- Occupancy was low so very quiet by the Casita pools. This could be a pro or con depending on your likes. I swam up to the bar by myself only to realize the bartender and I were the only ones in the pool area!
- again, not much to dislike here.

Highly recommended
