Well, what can you expect for $35? I suppose the room was clean enough even though it gives you that 'dirty' feeling. The A/C was loud which I loved because it drowned out the outside noise while we slept. We had a TV and there was even a computer that offered free internet near the lobby which was nice.

It was very close to the bus station, and since we had to leave at 4:30 to get to the airport, this place was perfect. There are also several convenience stores and places to eat nearby.

just as i expected from other reviewers, this was a basic, convienent place to stay by the bus station. nothing special, but it did serve our purpose. my family and i (4 adults) stayed there as a "layover" from cozumel to isla holbox. reservation was quick and easy via email. appreciated the "honor" system of them holding your reservation without deposit until the designated arrival time (which you can designate yourself, arriving anytime up to 6pm). we didn't spend much time in our room, so it was okay. bathroom was reasonably clean. try out "don javier" eatery a few blocks away if you go - good, cheap mexican food (sopes, salbutes, empanadas, etc) and huge bottles of fresh squeezed delicious juices - pina colada, was our favorite.

Stayed here again for one night this week, for the second time. Basically this confirmed my previous experience, that this is a tired looking yet clean and comfortable property, offering good value in a convenient downtown location. Once again the hotel responded promptly and clearly to my emails, and provided what they advertise.

I stayed in Alux Cancun with a friend for four nights in February 2008. It was nothing special, but good value for money.
Both the room and the bathroom were clean and nice. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. The only minus was that we only had a tiny window, so the room was dark. But if you only need a place to sleep, this is it!
Some of the staff speaks some English, but not all of them.
