I stayed at the belair hotel end of feb.09 in Cancun , which was quoted at a 4 1/2*...It is not!!! not even a 3*...the service was horrible !
There are a some good workers but very few. The staff is slighlty rude and unwilling to help . There is only one restaurant available to you and you wait so long for your food its unreal (that's if they even remember to place your order). The sushi bar is a "table with 10 chairs" obviously this does not meet the needs of the customers ! You cannot get food from NOON to 1 in that place. There all closed.
They stop serving coffee AT 9.30am in the lobby , you need to go waste your time at the restaurant and they don't want to give you the coffee cup to take out... WOW ! i had asked for a coffee pot for my room since i had the coffee maker right there! It took 4 days of me constantly going to front desk for me to get it! The best part is that i bought instant coffee at the walmart because the maid service is a lil off . I even bought a coffee plastic mug to lug around. When a customer is willing to BUY,MAKE,AND WASH THEIR OWN CUP for the sake of having a bit of coffee ! That's not a good thing.
The hotel might be pretty and all , but extremely poorly managed , the staff lacks tact! I had a conversation with the manager Mr.Carlos Medina one day, explaining the simple little things that could be changed that would make such a difference : towels in the room ( how many times after the cleaning lady had passed she would forget !) , coffee , steak knives ( they had drawers full of them !), all things the hotel has already , no extra spendatures for them . Really little things.
Lets not even start with the pool and beach accommodations! There was never enough chairs , till one day there was an actual fight on the beach , people stealing each others chairs!!! That day the hotel finally ordered more chairs or took them out of storage , who knows! They finally understood that 30 long chairs when your hotel is at 100% capacity is a problem!
I was charged 40 pesos in my hotel for 2 bottles of water , they hadn't refilled my fridge and it was passed midnight , so they charged me !!! I had the front desk call me a pizza one night for i speak very little Spanish . Do you believe he charged my room $2.00 for a local call that HE MADE because we were hungry!!! Cmon!!!
I get the fact that at midnight they close the bar , but seriously this is not a 4 and a half . AT ALL!!! I have travelled many times to many different places and yes its never perfect but this was to the extreme of horrible.
What a waste of money this trip was. Honestly go travel direct should not sell this hotel to consumers portraying it as a 4 and a half star . Its false , simply false.
