I had visited Trip Advisor and read many of the reviews about the ME in Cancun. Most were very helpful so I thought I owed future travelers a quik review.

My wife and I stayed at the ME for 8 nights (4/19 - 4/27) and really could not have been happier. We had a standard ocean view room on the 6th floor. The room was clean and with the exception of one night we had turn down service with fresh towels. The shower was awesome and we would like to duplicate it in our house. The only thing that would improve these rooms is a balcony but you know that ahead of time so no big deal. The three windows do open so you can hear the ocean 24/7 if you want. I did have to call the front desk about a couple of issues (bathroom sink would not drain properly and the safe needed to be reset) and they were knocking on our door within minutes to take care of them. The service overall was excellent.

We went to the breakfast buffet all but one morning and used the MAS rewards card for the 2x1. Great variety and fresh. The fresh fruit smoothie bar was a favorite along with the omelet and waffle stations. We went in town for dinner every night.

Most days were spent at the pools. The pool side beds were the most comfortable of any pool furniture we have experienced. They are at least the size of a king bed. Several days we did pay $35 for the adult pool Bali beds. The pool water was a refreshing temperature. As stated in other reviews they do have a DJ on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Not our type of music but it was fine for Friday and Saturday. On Sunday the volumn went way up so we moved to the main pool. Having way too much to drink the night before could have played a role in my decision to move.

We have been on many Mexico vacations so I always get a kick about all the people that complain about the "timeshare/vacation club" sales pressure. We never go to these presentations no matter what they offer and I do not spend much time discussing the offers with them. We just nicely say "no thanks we are not interested" and that is the end of it. They did call the room one time and approached us a couple of times in the lobby. No big deal to us.

We used the fitness room for a couple of workouts. Enough there for a decent cardio or weight workout. They do have Spinning bikes. The classes are $18 but they do not have a regular schedule. You have to talk to the trainer about setting up a class so I did not follow up. We were surprised that they do not have the cleaning supplies to wipe down the equipment. We were told by the receptionist that they do it at the end of the day. Not good. The ME sent me a survey this morning and this is the only thing I thought they needed to address and this comment had nothing to do with the current flu issues going on in Mexico.

Decent place, good service. However, upon returning from our trip, I found over $1400 of pending charges on my credit card, on top of what was already charged for incidentals, etc. from check out. I have emailed the resort, that at one time was so eager to respond to my requests and guess what.... no response. I now have to dispute the charges with my credit card company. What a disappoinment.
The resort itself is clean, our room ( the loft suite) was lovely. The bali bed out on our terrace was perfect for a late afternoon nap. The ocean views were absolutely beautiful. Alma at check in was wonderful. The food is lackluster. Go to Lorenzillos if you like lobster, also the Ritz Carlton has a great restaurant. I would recommend avoiding the 90's techno/dance music. The ocean sounds much nicer... Also, there is "hooters, senor frogs" kind of crowd that hang out by the loud dance music area/ adult pool. If you like Chili's, TGIF, strip clubs and drinking until you vomit, by all means enjoy. If you prefer a more sophisticated/peaceful experience, avoid...
All in all, we had a great time and we were planning a return trip. For the price it's a great little holiday. People that are used to luxury travel, may want to look else where. But if you are looking for a clean. comfortable place with good service (while you're there) this is it. Just remember to check your credit card statement.
I would have recommended this hotel to a friend if the false charges had been taken care of promptly.

I would like to share with you that at the time that our guests makes check in, we verify their credit card to guarantee extra consumption, also to have open credit in all restaurants, when the credit card is a Visa or Master Card, automatically freezes the amount, if its American Express, the bank only verified, this is a normal procedure in all hotels, and we regret that you see a misunderstanding here.

On the other hand, I am very proud to have received your personal comments, informing us that, besides these incidents, you were satisfied with the hotel in general, that your stay was very enjoyable and that we create a unique experience on your vacation.

Some friends stayed at ME last year and it looked great so we tried it this past spring break. I work at a 5 star hotel, so I pay attention to the details and the property and service did not disappoint. We did not receive champagne during check-in like other older travelers, but no big deal. Room was great, view was great, pool was great. Maxim pool was a little chilly but the main pool was a good temp. Front desk agents were excellent and friendly with every request. Loved the free internet, but it was spotty by the Maxim pool.

Here's where the trip took a turn for the worse. The helpful bellman loaded our bags in the trunk of a taxi and smashed the trunk so that it would close. My camera broke after repeated smashes.

I emailed right when I got home cordially seeking compensation, and also mentioned it in the email questionnaire they send out. Leonardo Cuevas Vela, the Guest Satisfaction Assurance Manager emailed me back telling me "I will personally followed up on these issues with our chief concierge to verify what happened, in this kind of situations we need to follow internal procedures, so i hope to have you an answer as soon as possible." BS. No one ever emailed me again, and they won't return my repeated attempts to contact them.

I would have loved to recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone who would have listened, but now I can't out of fear that they will break your personal items and refuse to compensate you. I know for a fact that they have insurance for such cases, but they decline to take care of their guests. So stay at your own risk, if they break your computer or glasses or camera don't expect them to take responsibility for it! I guess that's the hazards of going to Mexico. If they would simply rectify the situation I would gladly be an vocal ambassador for the ME brand. I even brought friends to ME with me because I thought this was a reputable hotel. Next time I'll just take my dollars elsewhere where they actually care about their guests. BEWARE!!!

First Let me say that I have Read every review that has been on this site and every other for the last month. I Just got back from my trip. I stayed from 4-21-09 thru 4-24-09. and Let me tell you the me entire trip was incredible. Any one that says a bad review about this hotel Must Be Broke and Ignorant. To start from the time you get there all You are surrounded with is SEXXXXY. from the check In to the elevator. I stayed with my wife and we had room 342, an ocean View room and it was perfect. I did not hear and noise like so many said and the room service and the cleaning was Great. One thing the turn down service will have you waiting for more the Chocolate Mints are so Good. Moving along the Pool was Perfect not cold at all like I read it was like paradise to me. The maxim Pool is one of the best places to be during the day. Just sexy from the entrance to the topless Ladies. I loved it. I also heard there was no beach. The hotel is surrounded by a beach. A great tip would be to walk around the rocks and enjoy the Beach just left of the hotel. You will basically have a Private beach to yourself.. Romantic and sexy. The continental Breakfast from room Service is a must Have. Freaking Great. The Pictures and words cant describe this place. It is truly Paradise.

Go to silk the food is incredible. Rose bar was a very sexy and just unbelievable place. All I can say is this is a must Go. I have been many places but this one I will have to say is my Favorite. Thank you ME for one sexy Vacation...

We stayed in Cancun last year and was amazing. The room was so new and chic..the bathroom was very mordern as well. The hotel staff was very polite and always helpful. The infinity pool was just great. There were a few nude girls in a group that was a little akward ..but other than that everything was excellend.
