From the time I arrived, I knew we were going to have a blast. Upon arrival we were greeted with smiles and Mimosas. The rooms were immaculate! Unfortunatley, due to past hurricanes the beach has extensive erosion, but that didn't keep anyone from enjoying the crystal clear (extremely salty) water. Pools(heated) and grounds are well kept. We explored downtown (ate and shopped) which is a 10-15 min ride. There are several public buses that you can take for 7.50 pesos, or about .60 cents usd. Overall a great experience, would definitely do it again.

I stayed at the Me the last week of June, My first impression of the hotel was that it was so beautiful. The hotel bellhop's were great they opened the doors for us and took our luggage upstairs. Now the FRONTDESK was a different story she was rude and basically said here is your key and sent us on our way, without giving us any information about hotel, the pool, restaurants ..etc. If we wanted to know anything we had to keep calling downstairs and or ask the staff around the hotel.
The room was nice, but small. We had the luxury front ocean view but I felt the windows were to small and no balcony :( We tried to order room service a couple of nights but nobody answered so we had to go out to eat. I also called a couple of days in advance to let them know I was going to be needing to stay past the 12 o' clock checkout and they said ok they would take care of it. Well I came back from breakfast just to find out I had been locked out of my room, I was pissed ...and all they said was you had to reconfigure the key with an attitude.
All in all this hotel was very nice and a great place for the price but I wasnt pleased with the front desk, their customer service was not great and they had a snotty attitude.
Management needs to train them better we are the clients and we pay for good customer service!!

I took my daughter to the ME for her 18th Birthday. We were there 5 nights in a Deluxe Ocean view room which is absolutely fabulous! Turn down service was a little inconsistent and the room never really cooled off (to my standards) but I think it was because it was so HOT outside.
The adult pool is great, especially if you love Techno music. THere is a DJ on Saturday/Sunday and a lot of the local "pretty people" come there to hang out. The spa was the best message I ever had (and Ive had plenty). THe silk restaurant was delicious. THe beachhouse restaurant was great. The ROse bar was fun (especially Friday nights). We never had the breakfast buffet but I saw the selection and it looked well worth the money. THe only thing that diappointed me the whole time was the first 3 days we received a phone call from the concierge asking us to come talk about our promotional package..having traveled to Mexico, I knoew exactly what this was about (sales pitch) so I declined. I finally had to call front desk and ask them to quit calling me and they did. THat was the only negative thing about the trip. I would definately NOT reccomend this hotel for families as it is all about adults and very quiet.

Nice Pools, Good Food, Thin Walls

The Good - My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the ME the first week of June. The hotel is beautiful. Very upscale feel and we both enjoyed the cucumber melon smell in the lobby. The infinity pool is very nice and being able to swim in the ocean below it was a treat. The a.m. buffet breakfast was very good and offered a large selection of items. The MAS Card really helped; had no problems obtaining the 2 for 1 by using it. The room was nice and I really appreciated the Aveda samples! The shower was great too! Almost forgot, free Internet access throughout the hotel was awesome!!!

The Bad - The walls between the rooms are EXTREMELY thin...felt like our neighbor was in our room talking to us. Noisy hallways at all hours of the night doesn't help one get a good nights sleep and feel refreshed in the a.m. Not exactly what I'm looking for while on vacation. I was also disappointed that while occupancy was down (way down), we were never offered an upgrade to an ocean view room. Personally, I find that strange coming from such a large, successful chain such as the Sol Melia. The lagoon view was lacking and I would not recommend it.

Travelled to Cancun with my hubby to celebrate our 5th year anniversary. The hotel, pool and clear blue waters made a very good first impression on us but everything went downhill from that point on. To mention just a few examples:

-Very rude and pushy sales people. Refused to leave us alone and lied through their teeth the entire time. They told us we'd be getting a tour of the suites and they'd explain to us how to book through the hotel instead of travel agencies and get better deals. We agreed to do it for a spa special (get 2 for 1 treatments). On the morning we were supposed to do this we decided to cancel as we only had a day left and wanted to enjoy some time in the sun. We were told we couldn't get our money back (1560 mxp that we paid for the spa) until our departure day. We were really uneasy about them holding on to our money so we agreed to do an hour tour (supposedly condensed) and still get the spa special. After we did the whole thing and of course decided not to go with any of the "special deals" they offered, we were returned our money and told we couldn't get the special because we didn't do the regular tour!!!! We were called out in the middle of the hotel lobby and chastized for changing our mind by the sales person that planned this whole thing, Roberto. We paid good money to stay here only to be insulted by a less than second rate sales moron! No amount of sunshine could lift my mood for the day - great way to celebrate an anniversary!
-We had continental breakfast included with our stay. We decided to take it in the room one morning to enjoy the view from our balcony. We were prepared to pay a service charge, but oh no, we had to pay for the whole thing plus service charge because we could only take our inclusive breakfast at the restaurant! We were so mad at that point that we just sent it back.
-We decided to pay for one of the bali beds by the pool. The lady in charge walked us to the bed and we paid her. She said she would be right back with our change. 2 hours later, still no change. We finally had to ask her and she said she didn't have any yet. We had to go get change ourselves from the bar that was standing 10 feet from her!!! Absolutely inexcusable for a 5 (???) star hotel.
-And what's up with being called "hey lady". You'd think that the employees of a "5" star hotel would be taught how to address their customers.

These were just few of many incidents that made us think that maybe Cancun is not for us. It might have been just the hotel but we'd think long and hard before ever returning to Cancun and, rest assured, if we do, we will not be staying at the ME.
