It was absolutely everything we hoped for and absolutely the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. We didn't have one complaint. The staff is helpful and very pleasant. Raphael "the Beachtlor" was amazing. He really went above and beyond, everyday. He made our visit even better!

The room was very clean and had more amenities then I've ever experienced. The bed was so comfortable, I was slept in everyday. The food was great. Every restaurant was wonderful and had wonderful service. The room service was awesome. We tipped almost everyone, and they were very thankful and more attentive. It’s worth the few pesos.

I really can't say enough about the Royal. We were so spoiled there; we didn't want to come home. If you go to Cancun...stay at The Royal in Cancun. It's worth every penny.

My wife and I just got back this afternoon from a 6 day stay at the Royal. We studied the forums and the reviews a lot before we went and they helped a lot...especially with the time share issue. We avoided it with little effort right after check-in and they never bothered us the rest of our stay. We did have a minor hassle of staying our first night in a double bed room, but were moved graciously to a king room the next night.

The facilities were very nice, most of the hotel was immaculate with the exception of the men's room under Pelicanos...bad sewer smell.. The pool was amazing, the room was perfection, the bed was a dream, the shower was incredible, and the view was nothing less than breathtaking. The beach was raked daily and they always had a crew of workers moving sand by hand or by pump to replenish what the ocean takes away. The waves and rip current are strong, so don't plan on swimming in the ocean much. The infinity pool edges right up to the beach so you can sit and drink there and look out over the gulf as if you were almost in it...decadent!

The drinks were top notch if you knew what to ask for. Specify top shelf liquor and you'll get it with no problem. Don Julio margaritas with an extra shot of Don Julio will get you there in style! We tried probably a dozen or more different drinks though...the Don Julio Mojito and the Mudslide with Malibu Rum was delish as well. The Superior beer was wonderful as well.

All that drinking will make you hungry! The only complaint we had about the food is that it wasn't available at the pool bar. We went to Grand Lido Braco in Jamiaca a few years ago and enjoyed dining in the pool, but this wasn't an option here. Spice had an amazing variety...plenty of options for the adventurous palate and plenty of basics for the more traditional diner. We loved the sushi for breakfast and the amazing fish dishes for lunch. Asiana had incredible sushi and sashimi and many other incredible dishes. We did not partake of the hibachi service, but it sounded like the folks that did had a great time. Pelicanos was good with some beautiful presentations and unique dishes. Last night we went to Maria Marie and had an absolutely decadent 2 hour dinner. We savored every bite of the coquilles, snails, vichyssoise, rack of lamb, grouper, and the grand marnier souffle. Room service as well as the coffee house were nice as well..I highly recommend the fruit tarts and the frappacinos in the coffee shop.

All of those meals and nice amenities would mean nothing if it weren't' for the amazing staff. The room maids were like ninjas it seemed, as soon as we'd leave the room, they would go in and tidy up and replace towels, empty trash cans and what not. The servers in the restaurants were of the highest caliber and more than willing to do anything they could to make your meals the best they could be.

Two things I would recommend to travelers to Cancun is to brush up on some basic Spanish and to take a supply of pesos for tips.. The staff was very enthusiastic when we greeted them with and "Hola!" or a "Beunos Tardes", and even more so when we tried to pronounce our room numbers in Spanish. I think our degree of service went up a lot just because we showed respect for their language. We were never pressured for tips, but tipped graciously when a staff member went beyond the basics of service. These people work so hard and a tip of 50 pesos or more for dinner service was greatly appreciated.

In short...you will not be disappointed with The Royal and you'll likely be spoiled and judge all other all-inclusives by the high standard this place sets!

This was my and my fiances first time at an all-inclusive resort and we were a little apprehensive that the food and service would not be on par with other resorts we've stayed at because of the all-inclusive factor but we couldn't have been more wrong. Everything from the way we were greeted with a chilled glass of champagne when we arrived to the amazingly friendly staff was completely and utterly exquisite. I was even impressed with the caliber of food served. Pelicanos was our favorite but we tried all the restaurants but Maria Marie and were not disappointed with any of our meals.

We stayed in the Royal Corner Suite and the room was perfect as well. The room itself is very spacious with an incredibly comfy king size bed, and a jacuzzi right by the balcony. Our favorite part was probably the huge steam shower in the bathroom though.

Now for the down side...the Royal spoiled us and ruined us for other all-inclusives! Because this was our first experience with an all-inclusive resort, we have come to expect this kind of treatment, service, luxury accommodations, etc. from other resorts and sadly none have lived up to the Royal. I wish there were more places like The Royal around the Caribbean!

My wife and I stayed at the Royal from June 22-28 and we could not have asked for a better honeymoon. We were amazed at the service and how nice everyone was.

When we arrived, we were taken to the 7th floor to check in. We were given two glasses of champaign and checked in without any hassle. We weren't offered any upgrades which surprised us. We did notice a couple that were in the sitting area that seemed like they had been waiting awhile. Maybe their room wasn't ready, not sure. But we were able to check in right away.

The room was phenomenal! Everything from the awesome 5 nozzle shower to the amazing view. The bed was so comfortable! The flat screen tv and Bose sound system were also a plus. The mini bar was very nice w/ a full bottles of liquor that got restocked every day. The only minor complaint we had was the lighting was a little dim by the bathroom mirrors. I didn't mind it but my wife mentioned it a couple of times when she was getting ready.

The food at all the restaurants were so good! We ate at Spice most of the time because it was so quick and easy. Our favorite would have to be Pelicanos. We had a chance to eat at Chef's Plate and I would recommend it to anyone. We just couldn't pass up the chance to have a chef cook just for us, in the same room! It was cool because he had mirrors positioned so that we could watch what he was doing. We also ordered room service a couple of times. Even at 2am, the food was amazing. We also utilized the 24 hour lounge for the pool table, ping pong tables, buffet of fruits and fried foods, and self serve bar.

The pool was great. The beach was on the smaller side but nothing to complain about. There were plenty of places to sit. I woke up early to get prime seats next to the pool but even on the days I didn't, we didn't have any issues with getting lounge chairs next to the pool.

The service was absolutely the best thing about this resort..and thats saying a lot considering everything was so great. We didn't run into a single person that didn't do their job with a smile on their face. We never felt like we "had" to tip but we WANTED to tip. The service alone makes us want to come back!

Overall, I couldn't have imagine a better choice for our honeymoon. Everything from the food, our room, the people we met, and the service made this vacation truly one of the best. We highly recommend this resort!!
