I did my open water referral dive with Mayan Aqua Dive in April 2009, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to dive in the Cancun area. I chose them based upon the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, as well as many other positive reviews on other dive websites. They lived up to- or exceeded -my expectations in every way. The entire operation was professionally run by friendly people that obviously love what they do. My instructor- Ben Mooney- went out of his way to make my diving experience memorable. The equipment was well maintianed- an important concern for anyone that doesn't own their own gear. Rates were comparable to any other operation in the area. What more can you ask for? I will definately use them again next time I'm in the area-

I recently returned from completing a 2-month Divemaster internship at MAD! The experience was a once in a life time! I am so thrilled and satisfied that I chose to do this certification with these guys. The entire MAD team including my instructor Ben Mooney, and my fellow divemasters Jorge and Dennisse made this experience not only the most fun diving experience I have ever had, but they also created an environment in which was so conductive to learning and gaining the experience I needed! Unlike most shops, this shop is organized, efficient, runs on time yet laid back and most importantly fun!! As a single traveler heading to Mexico not knowing what to expect, Ben’s prompt email responses eased my concerns and once there blew my expectations out of the water! If you are looking for a professional, FUN shop with the most amazing staff ever I highly recommend MAD! I am already planning my next dive trip with them!

I just returned from a week long vacation in Cancun with my wife and friends. Our friends, both certified divers, had set up plans for us to dive with Mayan Aqua Dive on our third day. I had never dived before and was instantly hooked. The team at Mayan Aqua Dive took great care to make me feel comfortable with the equipment both in the pool and in the ocean. After my 30 foot reef dive I was instantly hooked and arranged for certification beginning the next day. In the end, I did five dives in three days with M.A.D., and thanks to great help and instruction from Ben, Denise and Sarah, I am now a PADI certified diver.

The price was right, the experience phenomenal and service impeccable. It was an amazing time, one that's made me a diver for life!

We contacted Ben at Mayan Aqua Dive back in Feb. to inquire about diving during the Easter break and made contact again with him 3 days before our trip in April. We booked our dive for the day after we arrived in Cancun so that if we liked it, we would have the opportunity to go again during our 4 days there. He confirmed that he would take us out and would pick us up at the hotel at 11:15 a.m. but to call him at 8:30 just to make sure the time would be okay. We called him that morning promptly at 8:30 only to be told he booked someone else in our place for that day. Never a phone call from him to let us know that he was bumping us. He told us he would take us the next day. Friday, we called again just to confirm our pick up time and was told that because of the wind, he could not take us that day. Again, no phone call from him. At this point, we were frustrated with his lack of communication with us - he had the name of our hotel, our name,and a number to call us but never did. We finally did get to dive with another organization but only once during the 4 days. The kids loved it and really had thier hearts set on going again on the trip. Unfortunately, we had no time left on our vacation.
I was extremely disappointed with the service we got from Ben and his crew. We tried our best to confirm up our plans with him before arriving in Cancun. Be careful!!!!
