Just a quick note....I purchased a trip for my daughter and I to go and have some bonding time. We were originally to stay at the Oasis Viva Beach but it was closed due to the Swine Flu. We found out about our change upon arriving at the airport. I was a little apprehensive as this had never happened to us before. Well I was very satisfied with our upgrade to the Grand Oasis Caribbean. The beach was wonderful, the pool was perfect. We were given black wrist bands and had a room that was stocked with water, beer and pop at no charge. The buffet restaurant were we ate most of our meals at was absolutely wanderful. The food was good just a little different than home but good just the same. The hotel staff were very friendly although I found that they seem to be run off their feet. I would definately recommend bringing pesos for purchasing anything I also found bartering was easier with pesos. If you use your credit card they tend to charge you more than what they say and you don't notice until you get home and see what the conversion is and what you actual paid for. Both the hotel and a vendor in one of local malls charged me more than what the originally stated, unless you have a calculator there with you and you do the conversion yourself I would not recommend using your credit card. Bring some US for tipping they like that.
My daughter and I had a wonderful time all in all and I would recommend this hotel it was very nice and I would say it was 4 star rating.
P.S: The Oasis Palm Beach which is attached to the Grand Oasis Caribbean is a dump.....we had friends that were staying at that one during the same time and there rooms were much smaller and run down. Not nice at all.
