Everything was brand new, super clean, and comfortable. The beach was great with plenty of umbrellas and chairs every day, all day, and with lots of beautiful palm trees for shade. Food was good and service fine, just be sure your waiter really speaks english or you speak spanish. Funny, all the restaurants are easy to get into except the Mexican one which always has a long waiting list and the Host tries his best to talk everyone out of waiting for a table. Perfect resort for relaxing with spose or family. The rowdy college crowd was in the adjoining hotel next door which shares restaurants but this one, the Grand Oasis Caribbean also has its own exclusive restaurants, beach, bars (with premium liquors!), and pool. We got an incredible last minute deal of $540 for 6 nights including airfare and all inclusive.

first...hijacked from airport by bestday to new hotel....they said ours was closed to swine flu. what they really meant was hotel closed for low occupancy!
entire resort had no air conditoning...oh it may have been on but no air to speak of in restaurants or bedrooms. exhaustingly hot! we had to take food outside to eat it was so freakin' hot. the room service guys are the best feature of entire hotel! quick and pleasant! pool on our side of hotel was clean. we shared facilities with next oasis hotel...the palm beach. disgusting! all the locals hang there. teens and early 20 somethings from college hanging in pool there all day...puking....girls taking off tops. beach at either hotel....disgusting. black water where sea grass was. greenish smelly water where the black sea grass wasn't! you pick! water on beach no higher than top of you leg and i'm only 5'7". yuk! smells like sewage. the dinner boats and ferries to other island dock next door. oil...gasoline smells all day long. layed on top of sheets in rooms to try to be comfortable...no air....no ceiling fans. no balconies! drinks...hit or miss...mostly miss. so watered down....we just threw some down the drain. same food over and over and over again at buffets. only good and tasty thing on buffet was the jumbo shrimp. how they managed to get this right was unbelievablee!

if you are used to a good quality hotel....well....this isn't it! we weren't even supposed to be at this hotel....it was supposed to be oasis viva beach! but bestday tours hijaced us to here! no choice in the matter! thought we'd try the oasis chain as we were supposed to be paying for 8 of us. as it turned out....we paid for only 4. have learned our lesson but good! will not cheap it again for any reason! even if we pay for 10! you do get what you pay for! we'd have been better off going the extra bucks and staying at at least a 4 star property/chain. all the teenie boppers and the puking was the absolute worst! how can people be so obnoxious as to act like swine themselves. beats us!

We were switched from the Oasis Viva as well. This hotel is newly opened and by far the cleanest place I have ever stayed. We left for your return flight and they were polishing the floors at 4am. The rooms were clean and spacious with maid service daily. They stocked our mini bar every time they came in with water, beer and soft drinks at no additional charge.

The food was what is to be expected at all-inlcusive, It was the only drawback of the resort, but who wants to gain 10lbs on vacation at the beach. Fruit was plentiful and perfect. I would recommend eating at the restaurants that offer table service rather than the buffet but this would in no way deter me from returning to this resort.

Take the ferry to Isla Mujeres, it is well worth the trip. You can walk just over the bridge from the hotel and catch the ferry for about $15 and rent a golf cart and cruise the island. This was the highlight of our trip. The tour packages for this offered at the hotel are about $65 per person and includes lunch but we went it alone for a fraction of this and loved it.

Would certainly return to this property. Excellent.

p.s. Do not bring large bills to Mexico. Nothing higher than a $20 and plenty plenty plenty of singles for tipping. Enjoy!!

Just a quick note....I purchased a trip for my daughter and I to go and have some bonding time. We were originally to stay at the Oasis Viva Beach but it was closed due to the Swine Flu. We found out about our change upon arriving at the airport. I was a little apprehensive as this had never happened to us before. Well I was very satisfied with our upgrade to the Grand Oasis Caribbean. The beach was wonderful, the pool was perfect. We were given black wrist bands and had a room that was stocked with water, beer and pop at no charge. The buffet restaurant were we ate most of our meals at was absolutely wanderful. The food was good just a little different than home but good just the same. The hotel staff were very friendly although I found that they seem to be run off their feet. I would definately recommend bringing pesos for purchasing anything I also found bartering was easier with pesos. If you use your credit card they tend to charge you more than what they say and you don't notice until you get home and see what the conversion is and what you actual paid for. Both the hotel and a vendor in one of local malls charged me more than what the originally stated, unless you have a calculator there with you and you do the conversion yourself I would not recommend using your credit card. Bring some US for tipping they like that.
My daughter and I had a wonderful time all in all and I would recommend this hotel it was very nice and I would say it was 4 star rating.
P.S: The Oasis Palm Beach which is attached to the Grand Oasis Caribbean is a dump.....we had friends that were staying at that one during the same time and there rooms were much smaller and run down. Not nice at all.

This hotel was nice, the staff was great. The only thing that went wrong was it was under construction. They were fixing a dock, patio, and the elevator was broken. The maid forgot to fill the fridge from time to time...but it was clean at least. We will stay here again.
