The transfer by mini bus was short and sweet, no long line ups and we were able to avoid the Hawkers selling time share and trips etc at 'great ' rates. After you collect your luggage proceed to the bus area out the main doors and look for your tour operators representative.
Unless you need help with luggage just keep your bags with you anyone who touches your bags will be looking for a tip no matter how short a distance they move your bags.
Be ware of the folks wearing what looks like official uniforms, if they don't have your travel operators name tag on, they are more than likely going to try to sell you tours or time share so be warned. They will try to ask you which hotel you are staying at and then tell you to follow them, don't.
The check in staff at the hotel were very efficient and friendly and were able to find 2 rooms close together for myself and my wife and our 2 teenage sons.
The rooms and common areas are all very new and are kept spotless by the attentive cleaning staff. It was very nice to have air conditioned spotless wash rooms available.
We found the food was really quite good, we were always able to find something acceptable to eat at the main buffet . The selection was very good and yes there were some line ups while various items were being cooked but hey at least you have some input as to how the food is cooked and you know it hasn't been sitting around all day as if waiting for the 2nd coming.
I have noticed that some people find this unacceptable, my opinion is you get what you pay for and if you require to be served to make your vacation then perhaps you should try for another hotel and pay for that service. I noticed that very few people tipped the bar staff and waiters etc. I know it is supposed to be all inclusive but I found that human nature being what it is , a few bucks goes a long way to getting better service and drinks coming to the table much quicker,.... your choice.
I would agree with other contributors regarding drinks, my son brought a little breath test device with him and after several cups of the 'Crona' we were all testing as unimpaired.
This is not necessarily a complaint, it was nice not to have a bunch of drunks in the hotel and you do have to keep up your fluids in the heat so knock yourself out on the near beer.
I think the canned beers in the mini fridges were regular strength but almost everything else was not ( unless you tipped the barman).
If I had a complaint it would be that he barman in the main lobby bar appeared to be in training for the national hide and seek team and to be honest they stand a very good chance of making it by the performances I saw of them dissappearing into thin air when you were looking for them!.
The power of the tip seemed to cure them of this nasty habit, but this should not have to be the case.
The overall feel to the place was bright clean and cheerful, most rooms appear to have an ocean view and most appear to be with in easy walking distance to the bars restaurants pools etc, this was a nice feature.
The Pools were great, the beach inspite of the best efforts of the beach combers was a bit weedy for my liking. There was also a fare amount of garbage floating in the water and I hate to say it but some of it looked like toilet paper! I could be wrong but being so close to Cancun , I would have bet money that it was indeed sewage. We stuck to the pools to cool off and walked the beach in the morning.
The snorkel tour offered by the guys beside the swim up bar appeared to be the best value. They picked you up from the beach and took you to 2 parts of the reef for about a 45min swim in each spot. We would recommend this as the best value. Others offer free lunches etc but as you have already paid for your all inclusive, why pay again?
We didn't take in any of the entertainment except the movie nights and they were fine but I can't speak to the live shows as we didn't go the any but they were available.
Over all i thought it was value for money I liked the 'Funky' design of the rooms and I would recommend this as a good family holiday destination .
