My husband and I were married at the Grand Sirenis, so if you are a bride and considering getting married here, feel free to get in touch with me. Otherwise, this review will be fairly brief.
Rooms. We had a fabulous stay. Our rooms for the wedding were all in the same building, closest to the beach. The only problem with the rooms was for some of our single friends who were rooming together: not all the bathrooms have a frosted glass window, which can be awkward for families or singles rooming together. Some of the rooms DO have frosted glass windows, however, so I would just suggest mentioning when making your reservations that you would need one of those rooms. The rooms were always clear and well-kept. We (hopefully like most people) did tip the room service every day, anywhere from a couple dollars to five dollars. One of the couples in our group did not, however, and their rooms were cleaned exactly the same, so you will not get worse service if you do not tip, although I think it is a nice thing to do.
Food. We had reservations at restaurants every single night we wanted to. While they typically only will book you for four of the non-buffet restaurants for a 7-night package stay, if you go to the restaurant at the time they are sitting people, they will usually let you eat there (We love the buffet anyway). The late dinner times was somewhat frustrating, especially because we came towards the end of one of the weeks, so a lot of the early evening dinner reservations were already completely booked. By the time the dinners rolled around, however, we only ended up having late night reservations twice.
Activities. My husband got his scuba certification here, and we were able to go on a couple dive trips. My father and uncle did the discover scuba program and went on one of the dives with us, so it was a lot of fun. Their dive shop is excellent, and they gave me discounts for booking group snorkel trips along with diving trips, and they are really eager to help you. Wonderful service there. I DO NOT suggest making your water activity reservations up at the hotel lobby. They will not necessarily give you discounts, but if you go to the dive shop itself, Adolfo (who is the manager) will almost always. One couple in our group had trouble with making reservations in the lobby and then not being given our group's discounted price.
Weather. We went in June, and the forecast according to weather.com was storms the entire week (it was the beginning of rainy season) but it did not rain a single time other than the day we arrived! It was perfect weather, and not particularly hot, even for June. There was an amazing breeze, and the evenings (when you had to wear more than your bathing suit) cooled off fairly quickly.
Wedding. We worked with Sylvano, and he was absolutely fantastic. He helped us book a restaurant for our reception that they don't normally allow wedding parties to be in, and he really took care of all the details. We went diving the morning of the wedding, because we really weren't worried about anything. We met with him the evening we arrived, which was a little tiring for us, because we had just been traveling for quite a while. But after that, we didn't have to worry about anything. The location on the beach is beautiful, they rope off the area for you and don't allow people on the beach in front of the ceremony, or on the ruins for the duration of your ceremony. The flowers were also gorgeous. Again, feel free to contact me if you have more specific questions!
WONDERFUL TIME!
